Century Communities' HistoryMaker Deal Points to a Scale Race

Transfers·October 9, 2026

Century Communities is looking to grow quickly, and its latest move is a deal involving HistoryMaker that could sharply expand its closing volume. The company could reach about 800 closings under the arrangement, with a stated path toward 1,000 in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, one of the most active homebuilding regions in the country.

The jump is the headline. The deal would take Century from a base of roughly 200 to 300 closings to a combined total near 800. At that size, the builder would have far more weight in a metro where access to land, lots, and construction capacity often matters as much as demand.

The deal also reflects a wider shift. Builders of mid-sized scale are finding that organic growth is slow and costly, so buying volume, lots, and local sales teams has become an attractive shortcut. Each large move like this one raises the stakes for competitors in the same metro, who now have to decide whether to expand, partner, or hold their ground.
